Tasting Note

With its delicate bouquet of tropical fruits such as pineapple and grapefruit as well as gooseberry and cassis, this Haardt Scheurebe is focussed on freshness, vitality, and the exotic.

2022: James Suckling: "Explosive nose of yellow and pink grapefruit with touches of cassis, melon and fresh mint. Sleek and dry on the palate where the fruit is much quieter than the bouquet. A bit like a well-structured sauvignon blanc. Good balance at the finish."  | Wine accompaniment at the Supperclub 2023.1 for "Tom Kha-Style soup with coconut, kafir lime, shrimp amnd shiitake" | Wine accompaniment at the Supperclub 2023.2 for "Cod with curry pumpkin puree, pickled pumpkin, spinat emulsion, lotus root and miso beurre blanc"

2021: James Suckling: 92/100 "Here’s a dry wine for sauvignon blanc fans with stacks of blackcurrant and mandarin aromas in the nose. Zesty and vibrant with expressive citrus and nectarine fruit on the barely medium-bodied palate, the racy acidity driving it briskly off into the middle distance." | Wine Enthusiast: "This shows subtle aromas of lilac and elderflower and juicy flavors of tangerine and white raspberry. It features an intense acidity, which leaves a mouthwatering impression."

2020: James Suckling: 94/100 "The melon and grapefruit (pink and yellow) aromas pour from the glass of this firmly structured, medium-bodied dry scheurebe that’s got so much salty minerality at the finish. Still very young and, with aeration, ever more cassis shows on the nose. Drink or hold." | Wine accompaniment at the Supperclub 2023 for "Coconut | Kafir lime | Shrimp" | Wine accompaniment at the Rheingau Gourmet Festival 2023 (Sascha Kemmerer)

2019: James Suckling: 94/100 "The yellow-grapefruit nose is so attractive and this has so much charm that it’s hard to resist. However, this is only medium-bodied and decisively dry with a touch of grapefruit-bitterness at the fresh long finish. Very food-friendly. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold." | Civilta del bere "Scheurebe, l’altra faccia (figlia) del Riesling": "Crystal clear straw yellow. The wine enchants with the purity of aromas that are reminiscent of yellow grapefruit and pineapple. The palate is dry and vertical. Medium body. Fine mouth with delicate bitter almond that gives it a touch of class." | Eichelmann: "The Haardt Scheurebe has a haunting bouquet with notes of black currant and citrus fruits, is juicy and fresh." | Ronn Wiegand: 5/5 "This wine is very distinct in character, and great value. The Scheurebe is also exceptional: supple, medium full bodied, and very ripely flavored (peach, lime, guava, honeysuckle, clove), with fine balance, and a very persistent finish. Can be aged a bit."

2018: James Suckling: 91/100 Points "This has a very fresh nose with attractive aromas of yellow peaches, pears and melon. The palate has a smooth, succulent and quite concentrated feel. The vintage has given this some real body. Organically grown grapes. Drink now."

2017: James Suckling: 93/100 | Wine accompaniment at the Supperclub 2018 for "Wan Tan"

2016: James Suckling: 93/100 | Antonio Galloni (vinous): 91/100 | Restaurant wine (Ronn Wiegand): 5/5 stars

2015: Robert Parker: 91/100 | On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the grape variety "Scheurebe" in 2016 tasted at various professional tastings
