Young plants in Vogelsang

With our latest new planting in Neustadter Vogelsang, we are taking another step towards reactivating Neustadt's historic flagship vineyard and also making an important ecological contribution.

The approximately 1ha section in the "Mittlerer Vogelsang" was taken over by the city of Neustadt an der Weinstrasse in November 2018. After various terrain adjustments and a subsequent revitalization phase, the vineyard was newly created in April this year. Primitive Riesling clones were planted on the barren shell limestone soil, which we believe has the potential to produce great wines in the near future.

The first harvest is expected in 2022, and the premiere wine will therefore be available from spring 2023. We are really looking forward to it.

PS: The remaining sections of the Vogelsang (the plots further up in the "Oberer Vogelsang", one of the highest vineyards in the Palatinate and seat of the Deidesheimer Temple, and the prime site below in the Ziegelberg) will be transferred to our portfolio at the end of the year. This marks the end of a multi-year transition process and a new chapter in the history of this prestigious location begins.

Goda nyheter från Sverige!

Haardt Riesling wins Swedish tender!

In a tender for the Swedish alcohol monopoly Systembolaget (aim of the tender was to find a 2019 Riesling Village dry, estate bottled, from the Mosel, Nahe, Rheingau, Rheinhessen or Pfalz) our "Haardt Riesling" was awarded the contract.
Although submitted as a barrel sample, the terroir wine from the Palatinate, which was shaped by the Haardt sandstone, was able to convince the jury and was the point winner among the large number of samples submitted. The wine is expected to be available in select Systembolaget stores and some other licensed stores nationwide from July 2020.

Exotic Wine Travel | Drink Adventurously

2017 Bürgergarten Muskateller | VDP.Erste Lage dry

Score: 91/100 | "The Müller-Catoir ‘Bürgergarten’ Muskateller is an Erste Lage (1er Cru) wine made from 100% Yellow Muscat. The wine has high acidity and a modest alcohol level of 12.5% abv. It’s not overly pungent like a typical Muscat but there are notes of mineral water, yellow flower, and kiwi fruits. The wine has a lot of salinity and is the most serious dry Muscat I’ve tasted. There are floral notes but the mineral and fruit flavors overpower them."

2018 Bürgergarten Riesling Spätlese  | VDP.Erste Lage fruity sweet

Score: 92/100 | "The Müller-Catoir ‘Bürgergarten’ Riesling Spätlese is an impressive sweet wine with notes of apple, honey blossom, apricot, and lemon. This has plenty of mineral kick and vibrant acidity. The wine really sings on the palate. Despite the 61.2 g/L of RS, the wine feels very light thanks to the lemony acidity."

2017 Herzog Rieslaner Auslese | VDP.Erste Lage noble sweet

Score: 94/100 | "The Müller-Catoir ‘Herzog’ Rieslaner Auslese is a sweet wine coming in at 164.1 g/L of RS and 8.1 g/L of acidity. The Rieslaner grape is a cross between Riesling and Sylvaner. This wine has notes of lemon, honey, apricot, mineral water, and butterscotch. It’s rich and creamy on the palate yet weightless at the same time thanks to the acidity. Impeccably balanced for a sweet wine, this is a helluva effort."

Animal support for Haardter Schlossberg

Together with neighbor and castle owner Frank Sobirey, we have been taking care of the terraces behind our winery for decades. The former steep-slope site is an eyecatcher and landscape-defining for the city of Neustadt an der Weinstrasse. By regular mowing of the growth we guarantee the minimum care of the fallow land and thus make a contribution to the preservation of the local cultural landscape. Goat Johann and his smaller colleague Seppel will support us in the future. We look forward to the help.
