Our Vineyards

The freshly acquired "Vogelsang", which we took over from the city of Neustadt in 2018, is the earliest-mentioned vineyard on Panoramahang above the city center and also generously includes the southern neighboring castles "Fenichelberg" and "Ziegelberg". All three vineyard names disappeared with the new wine law in 1971. They were summarized with the Restwingerten of the northern Kernstadtgemarkung to today's vineyard "Mönchgarten" ("monk" in the destination word indicates monastery property, here it is the farmyard of the monastery Eußerthal). The old field names, however, continue to live as an intangible cultural heritage in the real estate cadastre.

The primary rock soils of the protected southern, visible from afar southern slope consist of a rare in this country Muschelkalk formation. Due to the close proximity to the Palatinate Forest and the rising in the evening of the city warm air streams benefit the high altitude, sun-drenched vineyards also from an exceptional micro-climate. Riesling terroir of a special kind!

A landmark in the upper part of the location is the fantastically located Deidesheimer Tempelchen (built in 1853/54, named after Friedrich Deidesheimer, 1804-1876, merchant and owner of winery Neustadt, who visited during his business trips to Munich often the Monopteros in the English Garden and decided to build a similar observation tower on his vineyard in Neustadt Haardt).
