2022: James Suckling: 94/100 "A generous German pinot noir with aromas at the dark end of the spectrum, including plenty of licorice and a touch of smoke. Fantastic balance of fine tannins, ripeness and a medium to full body. Long, quite compact finish that suggests this needs more time in the bottle to give its best. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.”
2021: James Suckling: 93/100 "Warm and rooty with full wild blackberry fruit and a hint of rye bread crust, this bold pinot noir is the opposite of the thin, pale and sour wine much of the world still expects from this grape in Germany. Full, fleshy palate with healthy underlining tannins and lively acidity. Long finish with plenty of energy and freshness." | enos Spätburgunder-Challenge: Top Ten

2018: Gourmetwelten "Lagen-Cup 2020": 93,5/100 | Ronn Wiegand: 4+/5 "An extremely good Pinot Noir; excellent value. The Herzog Pinot Noir is a wonderful single vineyard bottling. It is full bodied and fairly intense, with fine character (rose petal, plum, cherry, clove, black tea), light oakiness, good balance, and a firm, long finish. Warrants further aging. Aged in French oak barrels."
