From July 08 to September 12\, 2026\, the inner courtyard of the famous Glyptothek on Munich's Kö\;nigsplatz will once again be transformed into a vibrant place of culture\, exchange\, and inspiration.For over 30 years\, the Glyptothek Theaterspiele have been a permanent fixture in Munich and beyond. Following the tenure of founders Beles Adam and Gunnar Petersen\, who made the summer theater a household name\, directors Alex Novak and Sven Schö\;cker took over two years ago. Together\, they develop innovative formats\, including a marathon reading of Homer's Iliad\, and breathe new life into the venerable ensemble.The special flair of the Theaterspiele lies in its proximity to the audience: Enjoying a glass of wine\, water\, and bread\, the audience sits at tables in the courtyard\, immersed in the action. The program includes well-known plays by ancient authors as well as modern adaptations of classic works\, inviting contemplation\, wonder\, and discussion.A special highlight this year: Exclusive Mü\;ller-Catoir wines will be served during the performances\, all perfectly matched to the productions &ndash\; a delight for all the senses!The summer 2026 program includes:Dionysus\, directed by Sven Schö\;ckerAntigone\, directed by Alex NovakCassandra: A Play. Based on texts from antiquity to the present day\, directed by Sven Schö\;ckerAll performances will only take place in suitable weather conditions.
